Carol Ellis will be our 2009-2010 Photography workshop instructor. November Introduction to The Camera Monday, November 9 9:00a.m.-12:00p.m. This is a hands-on workshop where students will learn to navigate the controls on their digital cameras and discover it’s incredible capabilities. There are a few critical settings when properly managed will result in better quality images, pleasing color, appropriate exposure, and most importantly, success in obtaining better photos. We will discuss the various features cameras have, and then help each student explore their particular camera. We will practice taking photos in various lighting conditions. Fee: $60 Camera Meets Mac Monday, November 9 1:00-4:00p.m. We will use iPhoto to help organize our photos. iPhoto is an integral part of the iLife program that makes it easy to organize and share your images. We will cover transferring (or downloading) the photos by USB cable or card reader onto your computer hard drive (importing), We will use the tools for organizing and for enhancing your images. We will explore size and image quality, practice emailing images, and image “back-up” or saving to CD or external harddrive. Fee: $75 Supervised Printing Monday, November 16 2:00-4:00p.m. Pre-requisite is Photoshop Elements -Printing and Practice Students will use this time to print their digital masterpieces on the medium and wide format printers in the photo lab. Photoshop Elements-Basics Wednesday, November 18 10:00a.m.-2:30p.m. Pre-requisite: Camera Meets MAC or Camera Meets PC This is a lecture/demonstration/Q & A discussion introducing the most widely used imaging editing application available. Photoshop can improve the composition, remove defects or combine elements of multiple photos. In this class we will explore the guided, quick and full editing modes; the most helpful tools including crop, clone, rotate and straighten, remove redeye, and sharpen. Students must have their own laptop with Photoshop Elements 7 for the PC, or Photoshop Elements 6 for the MAC already loaded. Fee: $75 Point and Shoot "Children and Pets" Thursday, November 19 10:00a.m.-2:30p.m. The point-and-shoot camera, also called a compact camera, is a still camera designed primarily for simple operation. Point-and-shoots are by far the best selling type of camera. They are popular with people who don’t consider themselves photographers but want an easy to use camera for vacations, parties, and photos of their friends and family members.
