FURNITURE ASSEMBLY AND FINISHING
Feb 24,25 & 26 10:00 - 3:00
60 days prior to this class (December 1, 2006), potential students are encouraged to
peruse various materials describing a variety of items they may wish to assemble and
finish. Dave the Tool Man will be available to assist in this selection process – Just
call Sherri to schedule a time with Dave. Furniture kits are put together and sold by
quality furniture manufacturers, thus saving the student the actual time required to
buy the wood, lay out the design, cut the material. Our sole focus will be on putting the
parts together – as in glue, screw, clamp and nail – and then sanding, and sanding,
and sanding – and then learning how to choose and apply the proper finish for the
intended purpose of the piece that is being assembled and sanded. The end product
that the student will go home with could be a chair, a stool, a table, a tray, a desk. Your
end product will be a collector’s item that grandchildren and their grandchildren will
remark upon in years to come: “Can you believe Grandma (or Gramps) actually
made this with his own bare hands?”
Price to be announced.
